Professor James O’Meara

 

 

Professor James O’Meara 

PRESIDENT 

James is the president of our organisation and the chair of our program coordination committee. He is also a co-founder of the Global Coalition For Change. 

James was born and educated in Australia. He holds of Doctorate of Education from the University of Ballarat (now Federation University). 

As President of our board and a full-time academic James is a very busy person. But he continues to value add not only to our organisation but also many others. As such he has an enviable reputation as an international change-maker and networker. Outside the GCC, James is a tenured Professor of Curriculum & Instruction and the Dean of The Education College of The Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas USA. James also serves a Senior Fellow with Federation University, Ballarat Australia, and is the current President of one of the world’s leading teachers’ advocacy and research groups, The International Council on Education for Teaching (ICET). 

In past years, James has also served as a member of the UNESCO NGO Liaison Committee, and has acted as a critical friend to Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD), and the highly respected US Indigenous teaching and learning initiative, the WoLakota Program.

James is also a director of our parent association and charity, Global Coalition For Change Inc.

James and his wife Carol divide their time between Melbourne AUST and Laredo, Texas USA.

David Perrin

SECRETARY 

David was born in Ballarat, Australia. He was educated at the Ballarat & Queen’s Anglican Grammar School and Trinity College, University of Melbourne. David holds a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) from Federation University, Victoria Australia.

As Secretary, David bridges the Association membership and the membership of the management committee. David is the Secretary to the parent entity and charity, Global Coalition For Change Inc. As such David brings enormous experience and networking to the group. He is also the responsible person for the group’s regulatory compliance. He also acts as the group’s relationship manager (bringing together networks and contacts to aid the GCC and its partners).  

Until recently David was the CEO of Aboriginal Literacy Foundation and a member of several other NFP boards and committees. He has also served on the board of many community and public bodies. 

David lives in Melbourne and Castlemaine (Victoria, Australia). 

 

 

 

 

Richard Muller

 

 

Richard Muller

SENIOR INDIGENOUS ADVISOR 

Richard is a proud Aboriginal man with a Queensland heritage (albeit a stolen background). He was educated at the Bremer Institute where he gained a Diploma of Project Management (Business and Commerce). Richard is a passionate student of history and culture. Richard is also fluent in German.

As the Senior Indigenous Advisor to the GCC Board, Richard Muller has played a significant role in creating and overseeing our work in Aboriginal communities around Australia. He has also been instrumental in advising the board on partnerships that affect programs in other First Nations’ territories.

Outside the GCC, until very recently Richard served as a Senior Indigenous Advisor to the Queensland Government Treasury on Aboriginal and Torres Straits Affairs. He is now the Associate Director of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (DATSIP) group. He also serves as a board member of the Mt Gravatt Community Centre in Brisbane, QLD.

The committee is extraordinarily grateful for Richard’s input and knowledge of Aboriginal Communities in Queensland and generally around Australia.

Hyedi Greig

 

 

Hyedi Greig

SENIOR ADVISOR ON MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS  

Hyedi is a new member to our board. Although she has seen a number of years service with the GCC. Hyedi, a Korean born Australian, has for many years served as a volunteer and a program coordinator for many of our Welcome Mat programs. She also quickly classifies herself as a long standing supporter of our Indigenous Fund and its programs.

As of January 2017, Hyedi was appointed group liaison officer and senior advisor for our New Australian and Welcome Mat programs. This role involves her acting as a senior coordinator and conduit for between the committee and our Welcome Mat programs, partners and participants. Due to her diligent work in this regard, our committee feel more confident in understanding the needs and challenges of New Australians more than ever before.  

Hyedi is also a director of our parent entity and charity, Global Coalition For Change Inc.

Hyedi lives with her husband, Chris and their young family in Melbourne, Australia.
